MARATHONS FOR MADDI

With this apparel set we look to honor the memory of Madison "Maddi" Lyden who was tragically struck and killed after a taxi driver veered into the bike lane she rode in, forcing her into traffic. She was on holidays at the time in New York. From this tragedy the movement of "Marathons For Maddi" was formed by family members and close friends as they would participate in long distance running events in her memory.

We were honored when approached by Carolyn Bischof, the Mother of Maddi's long time boyfriend, to create an apparel set for her first ever marathon in Hobart over Easter 2021. With the context set, we set to work crafting a meaningful piece that best represented both Maddie and Carolyn's journeys.

So the details: The "Remembering Maddison Lyden Always" is worn proudly across the chest and can be read from a distance, while you will notice on the right strap of the singlet (on the front) there is a little banner that says 42.2 KM this is a little play on the term badge of honor and given it's Carolyn's first marathon it will always serve as a reminder as to what she accomplished. The hot pink represents Maddi's bright and bubbly personality and it was used for the seams as it shows that Maddi Is all around the family in spirit. The pattern on the bottom is to represent her main interest so the little brain for psychology, the magnifying glass for her curiosity, the plane for travel and the figures are meant to represent the people in Maddi's life and the reason they are all pink is because she has influenced them in some way or another. Then the birds in the sky have a dual meaning as they represent her free spirit and her love of animals. And then under the photo on the back is the quote "the future belongs to the curious" as this represents her adventurous soul.

So it gives me great pleasure to unveil the official "Marathons for Madi" Team Kit that Carolyn will be wearing in her FIRST ever marathon. You can read more about Carolyn's journey below.
