Tweed COAST TIGERS FOOTBALL CLUB

tRAIN gOOD, pLAY GOOD

We were approached by the tigers at the beginning of the 2021 season to design their training shirt and the club warmup shirt. These were garments that needed to be worn not only on the field but off it as well. Guided by the club we began work on a series of concepts inspired by real world examples they had sent us.

The first concept explored the notion of solid colour blocking and the use of geometric shapes, the second was an homage to the tigers home ground, nicknamed the “jungle”, the third looks at the implimentation of brush like strokes to create a clean overall aesthetic and the final concept was a exploration into the tiger mascot, featuring a prominent “torn” sash in replacement of the classic look.

THe SELECTION PROCESS

Using player and club feedback it was decided the tribute to the jungle not only represented the homefield advantage the ground gave them but also the sense of community the tigers club exudes.

Early on in the design process the idea was raised that the singlets should be reversible with a highly visible “tigers yellow” as the reverse colour. This is to allow the players to quickly and easily distinguish teammate from opposition during drills.

As shown in the above renders the brush stroke graphic was transferred to the warmup tee, which was developed simultaneously.

This shows the full on field and training set. Allowing us to see how the players will go from the training gear, to the warmup tee pre match to the full playing kit. It was a pleasure working with the tigers and we hope to continue this collaboration going forward
